Elizabeth Merrill

Elizabeth Merrill specializes in early modern Italian architecture and art. She studied at Columbia University, New York (B.A.) and at the University of Virginia (M.A. and Ph.D.). Her research focuses on architectural practices, and the means by which architects designed, communicated and developed their buildings. She is currently writing a book about the architect Francesco di Giorgio and his use of two- and three-dimensional models. Her edited volume on Creating Place in Early Modern European Architecture was published in 2021 with Amsterdam University Press.
